Earth leakage relay type B and range extension of type A versions, designed in modular enclosures with built-in display.
LOVATO Electric expands its range of earth leakage relays with two type A and one type B earth leakage relays, designed in modular enclosures with built-in display.
Type RM1DA230 and RM2DA230 complete the range of type A earth leakage relays with external toroid, designed for detecting alternating and pulsed DC fault currents. These relays are suitable for protecting electrical systems and circuits in residential, commercial, and industrial environments, where electronic devices may generate non-linear fault currents. These relays feature a built-in display for the setting of the intervention and pre-alarm thresholds, and the viewing of the differential current, indicated by three backlight colors: green in case of normal operation, yellow for pre-alarm threshold exceeded, and red in case of fault current intervention.
Both the relays are powered by 230VAC auxiliary voltage and include front LEDs to signal the presence of power supply and relay status indication, as well as TEST and RESET buttons for relay testing and manual reset after intervention.
They mainly differ in the number of integrated relay outputs and the dimensions: the RM1DA230 type integrates one relay output for intervention signaling and is housed in a compact 2-module enclosure, while the RM2DA230 type integrates two independent relay outputs (for intervention and pre-alarm signaling) in a 3-module enclosure.
RM2DA230 also offers additional functionalities, including two digital inputs for remote command of the TEST and RESET functions as an alternative to the front buttons, and an adjustable third or twenty-first harmonic filter to enhance intervention accuracy, ensuring correct measurement of leakage currents even in electrical installations subject to harmonic disturbances, avoiding false alarms, and improving the overall system reliability and safety.
The new RM2DB230 completes the range of earth leakage relays with a type B model, providing a higher level of protection thanks to the capability to detect, in addition to alternating and pulsed DC fault currents, pure DC fault currents.
The type B earth fault differential relay is suitable for systems with equipment that can generate continuous fault currents, such as installations with variable speed drives or rectifiers, photovoltaic systems with inverters, wind turbines, electric vehicle charging stations, data centers with UPS systems, electromedical equipment, elevators, cranes powered by inverters, railway traction systems, electric welders, machine tools, and many more.
The new RM2DB230 integrates a multi-color backlit display, allowing the monitoring of the differential current value with both AC and DC components. The two independent built-in relay outputs for intervention and pre-alarm signaling, digital inputs for remote TEST and RESET functions, front buttons for manual TEST and RESET, and status LEDs complete the hardware equipment.
Regarding the functionalities, it also includes a configurable third or twenty-first harmonic filter to enhance intervention accuracy in installations subject to harmonic disturbances, ensuring maximum reliability and safety.
The range is completed by the new RTB series toroidal current transformers, available in versions with diameter from 35 to 210mm, dedicated for use with the RM2DB230 relay to detect differential currents in both AC and DC components.
